Drink this: Now.
Alcohol: 14%

Why we're drinking this
Full marks to Cusumano for using glass stoppers instead of those environmentally disastrous (and esthetically egregious) plastic corks. The wine is good too, and has been consistent vintage to vintage over the past several years. Well, that’s Sicily for you—reliably warm weather and few surprises at harvest. At this price point—and on sale at that—you can’t do much better.

Tasting note
The nose is really nice, with forward cherry and blackberry. There’s an underlying savoury note, a whiff of dried thyme and tobacco. It’s a full-bodied wine to be sure, but has a certain lightness, even with 14% alcohol. The tannins are soft, making it a good sipper. It stands on its own, proudly. If need a new house wine, this is it!
