Pairs with: Pretty much anything, but err on the delicate side: charcuterie, roast chicken, cold cut sandwiches, creamy soups, grilled salmon or scallops.
Good for: The first patio party of the season! Hurray!

Why we're drinking this
Every spring as the world comes back to life (well, in Canada at least) our minds turn to thoughts of rosé, that delightful reminder of summer days and cooling breezes, open meadows and endless plates of delicious things served on a pretty patio. OK, pastoral scene set, we shall now move on. For rosé is so much more than a summer wine, not that there’s anything wrong with that. We favour year-round rosé consumption, because it is a lovely match with pretty much any food as well as a perfect cocktail wine. This example from Ogier is a staple for the LCBO and is quite often (as I’ve found) one of the only good wines on the list at some, shall we say, less wine-focused restaurants. That may be because it’s consistently good, not to mention cheap. (Just be wary of an insane markup: I’ve seen it priced at $40 or more, which is criminal). At $11.95, it’s a steal, so you’d be wise to stock up. You’ll be all set to come out swinging for that first patio party of the season.
Tasting note
Rather subdued but pretty nose of delicate citrus and red berries, and a hint of fresh herbs. It’s a dry wine, bright on the palate and crisp with juicy acidity. At 13.5% alcohol, it does have some body and weight, which is quite nice. It’s not too hot. In fact, it comes off as quite a light wine (ok, maybe more medium). Lots of fresh berries and a little herbal-pepper quality. Very nice. Great with salads, charcuterie, roast chicken, pretty much any sandwich you can imagine, as well as seafood like grilled salmon or scallops.
