  Why we're drinking this
  The Iconoclast Red from Creekside has been a kwäf favourite for a long time. Taste Bud and sommelier Zoltan Szabo has been putting it on his wine lists going back 15 years. Creekside Estate Winery has a real winner with this blend of six grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Malbec and Petit Verdot. But 2012 was extra special. As the good folks at Creekside have said: “The 2012 growing season felt like it was imported up from California.” For a taste of sunshine this holiday season, look no further.

  Tasting Note
  Forget about fruitcake. This wine has all the merits of the traditional holiday treat, notes kwäf Taste Bud Lindsay Groves, but “in a much more sophisticated, liquid form.” It’s meaty and decadent and smells like a Christmas party — all plum, cedar, leather, mulberry and cassis. “It’s good stuff,” says Zoltan Szabo, noting the medium weight and long finish. Complex, intriguing, and bloody fun to drink. Tasting great now, but don’t be afraid to lay a few bottles down for next year’s holiday festivities or beyond.
