Good for
It is so decreed: You must have sparkling wine on hand at all times. It can save your life.
Why we're drinking this
Good sparkling is not a need, it’s a right. This Creekside is more than good. It’s really, really good. You want to make Valentine’s Day super special this year? Bring out one of these babies. A rare treat, as only a limited number of cases are available and each bottle has been signed and numbered by the winemaker Rob Powers. Having recognized the particularly complex qualities of this small lot of wine, Powers gave it an extra level of attention and a full 36 months of aging on the lees. It’s a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Niagara’s unique Queenston Road Vineyard. Superbly clean yet complex, it’s a very pretty wine with subtle charms — you may just fall in love.
Tasting note
The Trad2, says Taste Bud Lindsay Groves, is “fresh and clean on the palate with a lively mousse and well-structured acidity.” A bright fruity nose, with delicate citrus and apple, a touch of toast, and whiffs of ginger. Superbly balanced, nice grippy acidity, delightful in texture. You’ll serve this to someone without making a fuss, and after a few sips they’ll turn to you and say: “This is delicious.” You’ll want to have more on hand. It’s a gently powerful wine — great on its own, lovely with all kinds of food. And you needn’t get all intellectual about it… fresh popcorn with some tasty seasonings will do the trick.*
